Once again Manhattan has impressive unemployment numbers compared to other metropolitan areas in the state.
The Manhattan metro area shows 4.9 percent, the lowest for metro areas. The Manhattan M-S-A includes Riley, Pottawatomie, and Geary counties. The 4.9 percent October figure is lower than September 5.4 number and lower than last year’s 5.2 percent.
Meanwhile, the city of Manhattan had a 3.9 percent unemployment rate, also the lowest in the state for cities. That compares to 4.4 percent in September of this year and 4.3 percent last year at the same time. Riley County’s rate was four percent, Pottawatomie County’s was 4.5 percent, Clay county was 4.3 percent, and Geary County, which tends to be higher was 7.7 percent for October of this year
