The Kansas Department of Labor released labor force estimates and the City of Manhattan had the lowest unemployment rate in the area at just 4% for the month of March, which is down a tenth-of-a-percent from February and a half-percent from a year ago.
Other area unemployment numbers for March include:
Riley County at 4.4%, down slightly from 4.6% in February.
Pottawatomie County at 4.7%, down from 5.6% in February.
Geary County had the highest unemployment rate in the area at 6.2%, down slightly from 6.8% in February.
Clay County had the second lowest unemployment rate at 4.3%, down from 4.6% in February.
Manhattan Metro Area (a composit of Geary, Pottawatomie and Riley Counties) was at 4.9%, down from 5.3% in February.
