The Manhattan metro area including Riley and Pottawatomie Counties continues to have the lowest unemployment rate when compared to other metro areas in the state, with 4.4 percent reported in July. That compares to 4.1 in June but is the same as July of last year. The City of Manhattan with just Riley County has a four percent unemployment rate in July of this year.
Nearby Junction City had a 7.6 percent unemployment rate which was the same as last year but up significantly from June’s 6.7 percent figure.
Area county rates include Riley with 4.3, Pottawatomie with 4.6, Geary with 7.6, and Clay with 5.5 percent.
