Madison and Makayla Vargo officially signed their letter of intent to take their talents to Washburn University next fall. The two had a big gathering at the Riley County high school library to celebrate the next step in their lives.
Both are excited to continue to play at the next level with one another. Madison really likes the bond that they both share on the court with each other. “She always knows what i’m going to do, always there for me, its nice to have her on the court,” says Madison.
Makayla really likes the fact that working together can be an advantage for one another. “We always have someone to push each other, we always have someone to practice with so it makes it a lot easier to practice with someone and always have someone to push you to do your best,” says Makayla.
Makayla was strangled by an injury that kept her out most of her senior season but still played in three games and averaged 10 points per game. She also averaged 10 points per game during her junior season.
Madison took on a lot of responsibilities when Makayla went down with her season ending injury. She averaged 18 points per game her senior season and shot 45% from three point range. She ended her career 2nd all time in three pointers made and 7th all time in scoring with 741 career points.
Madison and Makayla will spend time during the summer days working out at Washburn University.
