One of the individuals involved in a kidnapping case late last year was sentenced in Riley County District Court Monday afternoon.
“I’m just asking the court to have mercy on me”. That was a statement made by Kaywaun Washington during his sentencing in Chief Judge, Meryl Wilson’s courtroom.
Washington was arrested for charges, including kidnapping, back in October of last year. Reports indicate Washington, along with other male suspects, reportedly held two women at gunpoint.
After Washington gave his ending statement, his attorney, Britian Stites called a couple of indiviudals to the stand: one RCPD employee and the mother of Washington’s five year old daughter.
Concluding this questioning, Stites requested a sentence of 120 months, which would run concurrent. Prosecuting State Attorney, Barry Disney pointed out Washington’s criminal history, which include a few previous robbery charges.
Judge Wilson sentenced Washington to 233 months, or 19 years, for the first felony level kidnapping charge, and 59 months, or just under five years for the second.
