The Indians are now 4-2-1 this season and have a road trip to Hayden on Tuesday. – Manhattan High track competed at the KU Relays over the weekend. Malek Harris is the latest player to be dismissed from the K-State men’s basketball team. K-State announced Friday that Harris joins Marcus Foster and Tre Harris as Wildcats to be kicked off this offseason. Harris averaged two points and two rebounds per game this season and is a former four-star recruit. He was the highest ranked recruit Bruce Weber has had at K-State. “We have high standards for the players in our program.,” Weber said. “Unfortunately Malek could not live up to those expectations. The drama-filled off-season of K-State basketball continues. Nigel Johnson announced on twitter Wednesday morning that he’s leaving the program. He’s the fourth player to be kicked off the team or transfer this off-season. After much deliberation, I say farewell. Bill Snyder had his first press conference of the spring football season Tuesday. Here’s the highlights: – Everybody wants to start with the quarterback position. Snyder said that Joe Hubener and Jesse Ertz are ahead of the pack at quarterback, but he did joke that the Wildcats have “200 guys” taking snaps. – Manhattan High tennis won the Mustang Doubles Classic at Salina Central. The Indians won all but one match the entire day. The number one, two and four doubles teams all went undefeated. – Manhattan High girls soccer improved to 3-1 on the season with a 3-0 win over Trinity Academy. Wamego has found it’s new football coach. Lee Weber will take over for the departed Dale Burkholder, pending board approval next week. Weber comes from Council Grove where went 6-3 each of the last two seasons with the Braves. He took over a program that had only won six games in the two previous seasons combined. Before that, Weber won 38 games in 7 seasons at Mission Valley, including multiple playoff appearances and a league title. Burkholder won back-to-back NCKL titles in his final two years at Wamego and took the Red Raiders to the playoffs for the first time…
