The 4th annual Manhattan Walk to End Alzheimer’s was held Saturday with nearly 600 people gathering at City Park to bring awareness to Alzheimer’s and dementia. Chairman of the Manhattan Walk to End Alzheimer’s, KelLee Parr, said that he enjoys seeing members of the community jump on board to participate in this event every year, to support the many patients and caregivers who are affected by Alzheimer’s. After the cancellation of last year’s Oztoberfest, community members, and Wizard of Oz enthusiasts alike, gathered to enjoy the many Oz themed activities and entertainment that they had been missing. Manhattan City Park was the site of the 10th annual C. Clyde Jones 5K and Midge’s Mile Saturday. Participants gathered to show support for Shepherd’s Crossing, which is also celebrating its 20th anniversary. Development Officer and event namesake C. Clyde Jones says the event has evolved over the past decade and now allows people to participate virtually, a result of the COVID pandemic last year.
