Currently the host of "KMAN's Morning News", Troy is a 30 year veteran of radio, nearly 20 in northern Colorado, where he served as the "Voice of the UNC Bears" while serving as the news and sports director for one of the oldest AM stations in the country. No stranger to Manhattan nor Kansas, Troy is an alum of K-State in broadcast journalism and grew up near Circleville. He began his broadcast career with KSDB-FM on campus while working part time at another radio station in town. He's married to the former Monica Haugsness of Seneca, who has patiently put up with his schedule for more than 25 years.

Week one of the high school football season includes a showdown between teams from the 6A playoff field of a season ago as Manhattan High visits Derby. The Indians finished last season with a loss in the state quarterfinals to Lawrence, while the Panthers nearly ran the table, but lost in the championship to finish 11-1. Wamego faces NCKL foe Clay Center in the season opener at home, but will be playing without Army signee Hayden Oviatt. Following Wednesday’s announcement by Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark that the conference would be seeking to open media rights negotiations with FOX and ESPN 18 months ahead of schedule, there are reports that those discussions have heated up talk of Oklahoma and Texas exiting for the SEC ahead of the expected 2025 date currently in place. The Big 12 has announced it is beginning conversations on new media contracts with Fox and ESPN, making the move to begin those discussions a full year-and-a-half ahead of the expiration of their current contracts. Kansas State men’s basketball continues to build it’s 2023 list of committments, gaining another four-star recruit Sunday as guard RJ Jones of Plano, Texas, announced his committment just days after making a visit to Manhattan. Jones officially visited four programs (Boise State, Cal, Oklahoma and Texas A&M) prior to his trip to Manhattan. Other programs he held offers from included Colorado, Illinois, Notre Dame, Missouri, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech and USC. The bracket for the Big 12 baseball tournament starting Wednesday has the Wildcats set to face second-seed Texas Tech in the third game of the day in Arlington. K-State finished seventh despite being swept at West Virginia over the weekend, while Texas Tech finished a game back of TCU for the regular season title and claimed the two-seed based on tiebreakers with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. The 6A soccer quarterfinals will see Manhattan once again hosting as the Indians will tangle with Garden City Tuesday night at six. The Tribe is the second-seed on the West bracket and will be hosting a Buffaloes squad that is 12-5-1 on the year. Manhattan High’s boys are the eighth seed for the 6A State tournament in Wichita after winning a sub-state title Saturday night at Derby, 61-45. Jack Wilson scored nine of his 13 in the fourth quarter, Tate Brown finished with a team high 14 for the Indians who will open the 6A tournament against Lawrence-Free State at two Thursday afternoon. The Firebirds are 21-1. The Wamego girls are the third seed in the 4A tournament and will open with Altamont-Labette County Wednesday night. The 6A girls state tournament got off to a rousing start for the Manhattan Indians Tuesday night as they were able to hold off a comeback by Hutchinson to claim a 36-31.
