The #3 seed Bryant Bulldogs used a three-run eighth inning to knock off #2 seed Arkansas 4-1 on Friday night at Tointon Family Stadium in Game two of the NCAA Manhattan Regional.
John Mullen went 3-for-4 with two RBIs as the Bulldogs, from the Northeast Conference and making its first NCAA tournament appearance, defeated the Razorbacks of the mighty SEC.
Kevin Brown hit an RBI single to break a 1-1 tie in the eighth inning, and Mullen followed with a run-scoring triple. Brian Anderson singled to put the Bulldogs (45-16-1) ahead by three runs.
Arkansas (37-21) scored its only run on a bases-loaded walk drawn by Jake Wise in the fifth inning, and was held to three hits by a group of three pitchers.
The Bulldogs tied the game in the sixth inning with an RBI single from Mullen. Brown also finished 3-for-4 in the win.
Bryant will now meet top seed K-State in a Winners Bracket contest Saturday at 7 p.m.
Arkansas and Wichita State will face each other in an elimination game at 2 p.m. Saturday.
