GARDEN CITY, Kan. (AP) Christmas won’t be the same in Garden City this year.
Renovation work forced the city to cancel its Santa’s Christmas Carnival this year. But city officials say the event, which draws an estimated 2,000 to 3,000 people every year, will return in 2014.
The Garden City Recreation Commission announced the cancellation Thursday, saying it could not find another venue to hold the event while the Exhibition Building at the Finney County Fairgrounds is renovated.
The Garden City Telegram reports the event includes a carnival along with a stage where children can visit with Santa.
The exhibition building will be closed for renovations between Oct. 28 and the end of the year.
