Oklahoma State scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to complete a five-run rally and defeat the Kansas State Wildcats 7-6 Saturday afternoon in the middle game of a Big 12 Conference Baseball series at Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater.
Things looked good for the Wildcats as they jumped out to a 6-2 advantage after three innings thanks largely in part to a four run outburst in the top of the third frame. However, the Pokes scored three times in the bottom of the fifth and then took the lead for good with their two-run eighth. The Bat Cats dropped their second straight contest despite an outstanding day from rightfielder Jon Davis who went four for five, scored two runs and drove in a pair. Gerardo Esquivel took the loss for Kansas State in relief as he fell to 0-2.
Kansas State (27-13, 6-5) will attempt to salvage the final game of the series on Sunday with first pitch in Stillwater set for 1 p.m.
