Fire engulfs machine shop near Eskridge, loss estimated at $100K


A machine shop near Eskridge was found fully engulfed in flames early Wednesday morning, according to a press release from the Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s Office.

Property managers in the 15000 block of Mission Valley Road called 911 at 5:17 a.m. to report a structure fire on the property.

Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s Office dispatched three fire departments to the scene, which included Eskridge Fire, Harveyville Fire, and Dover Fire. AMR ambulance and sheriff deputies were also dispatched. Wabaunsee County Emergency provided support to personal.

Fire personal arrived on scene at 5:38 a.m. The structure was fully engulfed. It was determined that the structure was unoccupied upon arrival. The structure was a machine shop and stored multiple pieces of agriculture equipment. The building and all of the equipment were a complete loss.

The property owner was notified and at this time a total value is unknown but believed to be well over $100,000.

The investigation is being turned over to the Kansas Fire Marshal. No foul play is suspected. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
