HAYS, Kan. (AP) A Kansas woman who received national attention when she graduated from Fort Hays State University at the age of 95 is still taking classes.
But Nola Ochs is taking time this week to celebrate her 100th birthday.
The weeklong celebration began Tuesday, when she was a special guest at a Fort Hays basketball game.
Ochs, of Jetmore, earned a bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays in 2007. At the time, she was the world’s oldest graduate. She earned a master’s degree in 2010, and is still taking classes this semester.
The Hays Daily News reports that her actual birthday is Tuesday. More than 100 family members and friends, some from as far away as Germany, will celebrate Saturday in Jetmore.
