Harper Signed By 49ers After Being Let Go By Seahawks

The San Francisco 49ers have signed former K-State wide receiver Chris Harper to a three-year contract.

Harper was a fourth-round draft pick by the NFC West rival Seattle Seahawks, who released him Saturday and signed him to their practice squad.  Harper led the Cats with 58 receptions for 857 yards and three touchdowns a year ago.  He caught four passes for 39 yards for Seattle in the preseason, but dropped two passes including a touchdown in the preseason finale.

According to the Sacramento Bee, the 49ers are thought to be looking at Harper, 6-foot-1 and 235 pounds, as a tight end/H-back, much as they used Delanie Walker in past seasons.

San Francisco announced the move during its off day Monday before Week 1 preparation begins in earnest ahead of Sunday’s season opener against Green Bay.
