An Ogden man was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after a standoff with authorities for questioning regarding a domestic incident and also for the possession of a possible explosive device. Riley County Police Department Captain Kurt Moldrup told KMAN News early Wednesday evening by phone that the device was removed from the home located at 201 11th in Ogden and disassembled by a member of the RCPD Bomb team. A woman whose name has not been released but is the wife of the man being questioned sustained minor injuries but is said to be in generally good shape after taking shelter at a neighbor’s house.
Moldrup tells KMAN that RCPD has possession of the device and they’re now investigating to find out if it is in fact explosive. Police had responded to the residence on 11th street shortly after 1 p.m. and when the possibility of an explosive device arose the blocks on either side of 11th street were evacuated as residents had been issued an Iris alert.
The names of the two individuals involved have not been released due to the incident’s domestic nature.
