K-State hoops adds transfer in wake of Maurice dismissal

The Kansas State basketball team will attempt to bulk up its frontcourt with a late transfer from Mount St. Mary’s University.

Mawdo Sallah, a 6-foot-9, 235-pound forward, will join the Wildcats this summer and will have two seasons of eligibility, a source close to the program told KMAN Sunday.

Sallah averaged 6.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game with Mount St. Mary’s last season. The Mountaineers won their conference title and went on to face Villanova as a 16-seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Sallah scored in double figures in 10 games last season, including a career-high 14 points against Wagner on Feb. 16. He also grabbed 14 rebounds in a game against Iowa State.

Born in the tiny African nation of Gambia, Sallah will graduate in computer science at Mount St. Mary’s before coming to Manhattan.

K-State dismissed Isaiah Maurice last week for a violation of team rules, opening up a roster spot for Sallah.
