The reigning Big 12 Conference player of the year, K-State senior Ross Kivett, has received his first honor from the league in 2014. Kivett was named Big 12 Player of the Week for the first time in his career after going 6 for 12 with 3 RBI over the weekend in Abilene, Texas during two wins over Grand Canyon and another over Missouri State. The Broadview Heights, Ohio native had a hit and RBI in each game and a season high three base knocks against the Bears. Kivett was especially strong with runners in scoring position, where he went 4-for-5 (.800) and registered two of his three RBI with two outs.
K-State was scheduled to play at Nebraska on Tuesday afternoon, but the game was cancelled due to inclement weather and poor field conditions. The Cats will now take the field on Friday afternoon for the home opener at Tointon Family Stadium at 3:00pm against Iowa. The BD4 Distributing/Cary Company pregame show will begin at 2:30 on NewsRadio 1350 KMAN.
