Manhattan High continues to impress early in the season as they roll on Friday night to a pair of wins over Topeka High to remain undefeated.
The MHS girls (7-0, 3-0) cruise past the Lady Trojans (3-3, 1-2) 57-38 behind 15 points from Gigi McAtee. Madison Mittie finished with 13 points and Garrin Williams finished with nine. The Indians didn’t shoot it well hitting only 34% of their shots in the game but they forced the Trojans into 25 turnovers in the game.
The MHS boys (7-0, 3-0) held off a rally by Topeka High (3-4, 2-1) in the fourth quarter to win 66-56 to complete the sweep at the MHS gym. Gabe Awbrey led the Indians with 17 points. Tommy Ekart and Cade Roberts provided 12 points each.
The Indians hit 23 of 25 free throws in the game but both teams struggled to manage possession each finishing with 20 turnovers in the game.
Manhattan High will be on the road Tuesday night when they travel to Washburn Rural.
