Monday evening Daniel Brewer was sentenced to two concurrent prison terms of 12 to 20 years for two rapes that occurred in 1981. On Tuesday Morning Brewer defense attorney Larry McRell filed a motion for probation and or downward modification of the two prison sentences.
McRell states in the motion that it is consistent with the plea agreement reached between Brewer and the state among other reasons. The motion goes on to state that prosecutor Christine Ladner acknowledged that the office of the Kansas State Attorney General believed suspending the sentence was in the best interest of the state, the community, the victims, and the defendant.
