A 45-year-old man serving time with the Kansas Department of Corrections on three Geary County convictions has apparently been passed over for parole.

Ronald Smith was convicted and sentenced in May of 1990 in connection with 1989 cases of rape, aggravated burglary, and aggravated sodomy.

Public comment sessions for Smith were held in September, with the parole hearing last month. But a check with the KDOC website indicates Smith’s next possible release date isn’t until October of 2029. He remains incarcerated in El Dorado.
