One thing the Kansas City Royals have been good at so far this season has been the ability to avoid losing streaks. The Royals will try to avoid a sweep against the Orioles tonight and snap their three game losing streak after falling last night 5-3. Luis Mendoza was on the mound for Kansas City looking for his first victory of the season. He’ll have to wait until his next start after giving up five runs, three earned on five hits.
Despite seeing a little more power out of the offense, the Royals were only able to salvage three runs in the ball game on seven hits. Alex Gordan hit his second home run in two days and Mike Moustakas hit his second home run of the year and had three hits. The Royals defense is usually solid but they had three errors defensively in the game. JJ Hardy went deep for Baltimore and had a couple of RBIs in the game.
Royals RHP Jeremy Guthrie (4-0) will face his former team for the first time Thursday night in the series finale. Guthrie, who’s undefeated in his past 17 starts, was traded from Baltimore to Colorado in February 2012. Freddy Garcia will start for the Orioles. First pitch from Baltimore is at 6:05 pm.
