Royals Win First Home Opener Since ’08

The Royals broke through for three runs in the bottom of the eight to rally past the Minnesota Twins for a 3-1 win in their home opener.

Alcides Escobar doubled home the go-ahead run while Billy Butler and Alex Gordon also drove in runs in the decisive eight frame.

Starter Ervin Santana went eight strong innings for Kansas City, and allowed just one run and four hits in his final seven innings pitched. The start earned Santana his first win as Royal.

Aaron Crow worked a nearly perfect ninth inning to pick up his third career save.

Kansas City is now 4-3 and will take on the Twins again Tuesday night at 7:10.
