The new IMAX theater is starting to show its footprint in downtown Manhattan.

Crews were taking advantage of the above-average temperatures Saturday afternoon and working on the building, which takes place of the demolished Sears wing of the Manhattan Town Center.

The new theater is set to open this Fall and will feature 13 screens and a 575-seat IMAX theater and restaurant.

Over $15 million has been invested into the new theater and it is owned by Carmike Cinemas, which operates the Seth Childs 12 theater on South Seth Child Road at the west end of the Little Apple.

Manhattan will join Olathe, Wichita and Hutchinson as the only cities in Kansas with an IMAX theater. Local leaders say the new theater will likely increase tourism to Manhattan.

Crews continue work on the new IMAX theater in downtown Manhattan Saturday.
