Stanley Hoerman of Manhattan has officially joined the race for the 66th district of the State House of Representatives in Topeka.
Hoerman grew up in south-central Manhattan with eight brothers and sisters.
“I was well trained by my parents and they were very good people and they taught us right and wrong.”
Hoerman said he was “disappointed ” in last year’s legislative session.
“It was so divisive and they just barely got anything done, so I think it’s time for a change.”
If elected, said he’ll advocate for safety on city, county and state roads.
“I just think there’s a need for safety by putting shoulders on.”
Hoerman said he’d also advocate for the cancellation of turnpike fees as he believes the was fully paid for in 2000.
“The Kansas Turnpike was put in when I was in high school and the selling point was after 40 years, it’ll belong to the State of Kansas, so that would’ve been 1960 to 2000. In 2000, the fees on the turnpike should have went off.”
