Slick roads caused several accidents across the state, but closer to home the Kansas Highway Patrol reports an injury accident in Wabaunsee county on I-70 early Tuesday afternoon. The accident occurred on I-70 eastbound just east of the Riley/Wabaunsee county line.
KHP indicates Latricia Rudman, 51, of Missouri was driving a 2001 Toyota 4Runner when she lost control and the vehicle went into the south ditch, up an embankment, and rolled one time, coming to rest on its wheels. Rudman and two passengers including Kinae Gibson, 22, and two month old baby Amilia Gibson, both from Arkansas, were all taken to Wamego City Hospital.
The accident was reported at one p.m. Tuesday. Both adults had seatbelts on and the child was restrained in an infant car seat.
As KMAN announced Tuesday, Riley County Police went into emergency accident reporting phase late in the afternoon. The Riley County Police early morning incident report indicates seven non injury accidents from 2:30 until six p.m. Tuesday. While there’s no official confirmation all the accidents were weather-related, they all occurred after the snow started to fall early in the afternoon.
