September unemployment numbers in Manhattan were down considerably from the month before, according to information just released by the Kansas Department of Labor. The 3.3 percent unemployment rate was down from 4.1 in August for the Manhattan metro area including Riley and Pottawatomie Counties. The Manhattan/Junction City combined statistical area showed a lower rate also of 3.1 percent compared to 3.9 in August. Junction City’s micro area in Geary County had a 4.9 percent unemployment rate.
Area counties showed a decline in all cases during September, including Riley County at 2.7, Pottawatomie at 2.8, Geary County at 4.9, and Clay County at 3.6.
