A joint investigation by the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office, Wamego Police Department and Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks resulted in the arrest of two men this past week. According to a Thursday evening news release from Sheriff Greg Riat, the two males who were driving a 2004 Chevy Silverado Pickup were stopped near Horseshoe Road on Military Trail Rd in rural Wamego around 3:40 p.m last Friday (July 1).
A search of the vehicle was conducted and a quantity of Marijuana was seized as well as two firearms, with one being loaded. The driver, identified as Tyler Newman, 26, of Onaga was taken into custody for charges which include distribution of marijuana and possession of drug related items. He was transported to the Pottawatomie County Jail and has posted a bond of $5000.
A passenger in the vehicle, Otto Tisdale, 31, of Wamego was arrested for similar charges but an additional Criminal Possession of a Weapon by a Felon. Tisdale was transported to the Pottawatomie County Jail with a bond of $20,000.
In a separate incident that same day, just before 8:00 a.m., a Dodge Neon driven by Gary Dorr, 47, of St.George was stopped for a traffic violation near the intersection of Highway 24 and Lake Elbo Road in rural Manhattan. During this stop Deputies discovered an unspecified quantity of marijuana and methamphetamine. Door was taken into custody for Possession-related charges and transported to the Pottawatomie County Jail, with a $5000 dollar bond.
