Over 26,000 people from around the world are in Washington D.C. for the 2015 AUSA Annual Meeting
and Exposition including delegates from Manhattan, Fort Riley, and Junction City chapter. The 3-day conference
began on Monday and wraps up today. AUSA – which stands for Association of the U.S. Army – hosts the professional development event yearly. This year’s highlights included many different seminars, and a keynote presentation by John McHugh, Secretary of the Army. McHugh delivered an impassioned speech on the future of the Army. In attendance for the event was Manhattan Mayor Pro Tem Usha Reddi.
Reddi says one of the best parts of the trip has been meeting with the representatives who oversee Manhattan, Junction City, and Fort Riley to discuss the Governor’s Military Council.
“We were able to get some updates on things that 
might impact us this upcoming session,” said Reddi.
On Wednesday, the group will be meeting with Congressmen Tim Huelskamp and Mike Pompeo along with Sen. Pat Roberts before returning home.
Reddi, who has been accompanied by Mayor Karen McColloh and Deputy City Manager Jason Hilgers, was eager to be spending time with other delegates and noted the urgency in the air of the Capitol City while searching for the next Speaker of the House.
“It’s been an interesting week to be in Washington D.C.,” Reddi noted.
