Updated Thursday morning:
As K-MAN first reported at about two Wednesday afternoon, Riley County Police, Hazmat, and other emergency crews responded to an accident involving a propane truck in the 8200 block of Tuttle Creek Boulevard.
Thursday morning there’s a traffic advisory with U.S. 77/Tuttle Creek Boulevard from Madison Road or 4-Mile Turnoff to Barton Road NOW OPEN to traffic.
However there will be a SHORT-TERM FULL ROAD CLOSURE for propane truck removal work Thursday between 9:30 a.m. and 12 p.m., weather permitting.
Traffic will detour via Green Randolph Road during the short-term full road closure.
The Kansas Highway Patrol indicates 57 year old Dale Taylor of Junction City was taken to Via Christi Hospital/Manhattan following the early afternoon accident. Taylor was driving a 2007 International semi southbound on Highway 77, with a 2001 Peterbuilt semi northbound. Taylor’s semi crossed the center line, striking the other semi, with Taylor’s vehicle leaving the roadway into the east ditch coming to rest at the bottom of the embankment.

Riley County Police, Hazmat, and other emergency crews have responded to an accident involving a propane truck in the 8200 block of Tuttle Creek Boulevard, reported shortly before 2 p.m. TCB is also known as Highway 77 and is currently closed between Madison Road or the 4 mile corner/Riley turn off and Barton Road. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
Again Hazmat crews responded to the scene, with a potential hazard due to the propane. The accident scene is approximately one mile north of the 4-mile-corner.
Indications are there may be an injury involved.
