Aspiring Jedis, wise Yodas, and everyone in between are invited to a Star Wars-themed event at the Manhattan Public Library this Saturday.

From 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8th,  the Manhattan Public Library will celebrate Star Wars Reads Day with activities for all ages. At noon, a movie showing begins on the auditorium’s big screen. This event is free and open to the public.

Crafts and activities will include trivia, Jedi training with bubbles, and a Lightsaber demonstration with the Black Falcon School of Arms. Costumes are encouraged and participants are invited to join the cosplay/costume contest which will take place at 11:30 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners in each age category.

At 12:00 p.m., enjoy a movie screening on the auditorium’s newly updated audio visual system courtesy of Capital Federal Savings Bank and Reddi Systems.

Star Wars Reads Day was started by Lucasfilms in 2012 to highlight the massive amount of books that have been written about Star Wars. Last year, over 2,000 bookstores, schools, and libraries participated in the festivities.
