Pott Co Sheriff Patch

On Monday, December 22, 2015 the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential burglary just North of the intersection of Genn Road and Old Post Road, rural Wamego.  Upon arrival Sheriff Deputies discovered that the residence at this location appeared to have been burglarized.  The suspect or suspects in this incident forced entry into the home and removed Christmas presents and jewelry.  The victims believed the crime occurred between Sunday, December 20th after 5:00 p.m. and before 3:30 p.m. on December 21st.  Damage to the residence and loss from theft may exceed 1000 dollars.

While Sheriff Detectives were working the incident on Genn Road, a second call of a residential burglary came in from a residence North of the intersection at Cannonball Road and Saltzer Road, rural Wamego.  The victim in this case had arrived home and discovered parts of their home had been ransacked,  presents stolen as well as jewelry stolen.  Sheriff Office personnel  responded to this incident as well.  The victim believes their home had been burglarized between the hours of 7:50 a.m. and 4:55 p.m.  The loss from this burglary and theft may exceed 1000 dollars.

An area canvass was conducted for both burglaries.  A vehicle of interest was developed, a white regular cab pickup, possibly a GMC or Chevy, with a flat-bed instead of a pickup bed.  The pickup is believed to be a late 90’s or early 2000 model.  A white regular cab pickup with a flat-bed has been reported seen in the area of both residence that reported being burglarized.

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office is actively working these cases.  Similarities between the cases suggest they may be connected however it is not certain.  The Sheriff’s Office is asking for help from the community to identify the person or persons responsible for these crimes.  A reward is being offered for the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.  Anyone with information is urged to contact the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office at 785-457-3353.  Callers may remain anonymous.
