An injury accident occured east of downtown Manhattan yesterday afternoon. Riley County officers responded to a report of an injury accident in the 100 block of East Poyntz Ave at approximately 3:50 PM Monday. When officers arrived on scene, they found an ivory-colored 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser, driven by 79-year-old James Miley of Manhattan, on it’s side. The vehicle had been struck by a silver 2007 Buick Lucerene driven by 58-year-old Roger Eaton of Manhattan. Miley was transported by EMS to Via Christi Hospital and also cited for an improper left turn. The extent of his injuries is not known at the time.
A Manhattan man was arrested on multiple charges on Monday afternoon. 24-year-old Jerah Gasser of Manhattan, was arrested in the 1600 block of Woodoak Court at approximately 3:30 PM Monday on several Pottawatomie County District Court warrants. The warrants were for probation violation, failure to appear, burglary of a motor vehicle, and theft. Gasser’s total bond was set at $27,896.50, causing her to remain confined at the time of this report.

Riley County Officers filed a report from a theft at Briggs Auto Lane in Manhattan. It was reported that a known suspect gave them a check for a down payment for a 2016 Ford Fiesta, then called the next day and said the check would not clear. Briggs Auto reported that the suspect has not returned to make the down payment. The total loss associated with this case is approximately $12,000.
