A Westmoreland man has been found not guilty of attempted second degree murder but guilty of aggravated battery following a three and a half day jury trial in Pottawatomie County Court. Travis Conder now faces a July 21st sentencing.
Conder was arrested nearly a year ago–in August–after a shooting in Westmoreland. Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the 100 block of South fourth Street in Westmoreland early on a Sunday morning and found two individuals suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Conder was taken into custody outside the residence without incident.
The defendant had earlier filed a motion for immunity based on self defense but was denied. The trial began Monday, with the verdict announced Thursday afternoon.
