The Riley County Police Department finally has a budget. A special meeting had to be called Monday as law board members present
last week were not able to come to an agreement. But at least one law board member present today (Monday), Barry Wilkerson, made his views known by offering a motion for the previously published budget.
That budget includes a communications center manager, five dispatchers , and a system administrator for the new consolidated dispatching, and a two percent cost of living adjustment. That amounts to a 7.343 percent increase, amounting to about 17 million dollars. The vote was four to three.
Board member Wynn Butler had asked again about the delinquency rate numbers of concern to the city of Manhattan, but that was not on the special meeting agenda. The meeting lasted about six minutes
