After reports of toxic blue green algae at Milford Lake in Clay, Geary and Dickinson Counties, The Army Corps of Engineers closed the Fort Riley Marina until further notice.
Earlier it was reported that three dogs died due to exposure to blue green algae at Milford Lake. Along with these reports, there have also been cases of human illness within the last few weeks.
With the upgrade from an advisory to a warning due to the amount of blue green algae, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment was concerned for the safety of humans and animals, which led to the closing until further notice.
