Riley County police received a report of three missing dogs over the weekend, two of which are now dead.

Three blueheeler dogs left their owner’s property in Leonardville over the weekend. One was found beaten to death, another with a broken back and hind legs (which ultimately died), while the third remains missing.

RCPD announced that there are no suspects at this time. The case remains under investigation.

Riley County police responded to an apartment complex over the weekend after receiving a report of gunshots

The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday, August 28th. 25-year-old Anthony Reed reported what he believed was a gunshot outside of his apartment at 3103 Heritage Court. Upon arrival, RCPD determined that the alleged gunshot was a bottle bomb, contrived with a homemade explosive and a plastic coke bottle.

There are no suspects at this time and the case is under investigation.

A break up gone bad led to nude photos being posted on the social media website Twitter and possible jail time for the perpetrator.

Riley County Police say the 22-year-old suspect allegedly began harassing the 18-year-old victim with phone calls over the course of the summer months. The problems escalated as the suspect then allegedly grabbed the victim by the throat and hair, and then put the victim’s nude photos online via Twitter. The nude photos were taken while the alleged victim was 17, which has prompted an investigation by the RCPD on the charges of sexual exploitation of a child, promoting obscenity, stalking and battery.

RCPD reports that the investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time.

A large amount of copper was taken from Theodore Roosevelt Elementary school in Manhattan over the weekend.

Riley County Police say over 3-thousand dollars worth of copper was taken at a construction site. Items reported stolen include 30 four foot copper pipe pieces, and 20 flush valves.

There are no suspects at this time, and RCPD is still investigating the incident.
