TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback plans to join officials and ranchers from Colorado and Montana on a 12-day trade mission to Russia and Kazakhstan to promote the U.S. livestock industry.
Brownback’s office announced Monday that the delegation will be traveling from Thursday through Oct. 17. Kansas Agriculture Secretary Dale Rodman also is in the delegation.
In Russia, the delegation will attend a livestock exposition, tour farms and ranches and meet with beef producers to discuss livestock genetics. The delegation also will market agricultural equipment, animal feed ingredients and animal health goods and services.
In Kazakhstan, a former Soviet republic, the delegation will have meetings about increasing Kansas exports.
Funds for the trade mission are being provided through a U.S. Department of Agriculture program.
