The body of a Junction City man was found by police Thursday morning.
According to Junction City police reports at 0646 officers from the JCPD responded to 225 North Madison apartment 11 in reference to a check welfare call.
Upon arriving at the residence the officers gained entrance into the apartment, and found 47-year-old Joseph Dirks dead from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound.
An autopsy is scheduled at a later date.
