TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) The Kansas Supreme Court says a special commission’s report on the operations of the state’s judicial branch will be released to the public later this month.
Chief Justice Lawton Nuss says the high court received the report last week and is reviewing its proposals for making the court system more efficient and effective.
The Supreme Court created the 25-member Blue Ribbon Commission one year ago to consider such issues as the number of court offices, their hours of operation, using technology to reduce costs and increasing the court system’s staffing flexibility
Nuss says the justices want to review the report thoroughly before making it public. The commission’s work included the first comprehensive review of caseloads across the state, with loads weighted by the complexity of cases.
