    Area teams and Wrestlers medal at State Tournaments

    At least one area wrestler will be in the ring on Saturday hoping to become a State Champion.  Kyle Wilson of Wamego advanced to the State finals after defeating Michael Tubbs of Colby in Friday’s semifinals at the Bicentennial Center in Salina.   Wilson will wrestle for the title against Andrew Morgan of Baldwin High School in the 132 lb. weight class in Class 4A.

    Meanwhile, the Class 3-2-1A Tourney wrapped up in Hays with Rock Creek finishing 15th with 40.5 points and Riley County finishing 51st with two points.  The area’s best team showing came from Rossville which was 10th.  Among the area wrestlers who medaled were Marc Riess who finished sixth at 120 lbs.  Sam Wilson placed fifth at 138 lbs. and Trevor Sutton finished sixth at 170 lbs.

    Scott City won the State Championship with a score of 93.5 points.
