After cruising to a 7-2 win on Thursday night over San Diego State in their first game of the weekend at Tony Gwynn Stadium things turned out much differently for the Kansas State Baseball team on Friday at the University of San Diego’s Cunningham Stadium.
Trailing 3-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, Friday’s opponent the Toreros erputed for 12 runs against the K-State bullpen on their way to a 15-1 victory.
The Wildcats scored their lone run of the game in the fourth inning as starting pitcher Matt Applegate (0-1) took the loss while Kansas State dropped to 2-3 on the season.
K-State is back in action on Saturday once again against San Diego State at Tony Gwynn Stadium as Joe Flattery gets the start for the Batcats. First pitch is at 4 p.m. CST. Pre-game coverage on KMAN will begin at 3:30pm CST with Rob Voelker and Ryan Lackey on the call.
NOTE: San Diego State Coach Tony Gwynn is not coaching in this weekend’s games against K-State as he is sidelined for a month following surgery on his cheek.
