Elayna Spilker and Darby Price each scored 10 points as the Manhattan High girls beat Wichita Southeast 54-23 in the 6A substate semifinals.  The Indians scored 16 of the 18 points in the first quarter, and led the Buffaloes 30-8 at halftime.  MHS girls coach Scott Mall says the Tribe played with the proper intensity from the start.

MHS will face longtime nemesis Washburn Rural in the substate finals.  The Indians swept the season series from the Junior Blues.  Mall says those two wins over Rural are now in the past.

Manhattan High girls basketball will battle Washburn Rural for a spot in the 6A state tournament on Friday night at 5:30pm at Topeka High.  Coverage will begin at 5:15 on 1350KMAN.com with John Kurtz, and will be joined in progress on the air after K-State baseball.
