MANHATTAN, Kan. – Senior Jamar Samuels was named the Phillips 66 co-Big 12 Player of the Week on Sunday after averaging a double-double in wins over Texas A&M and Oklahoma State last week.

Samuels, who shared the weekly honor with Kansas’ Tyshawn Taylor, earned Player of the Week distinction for the second time this season and the first time since Dec. 5, 2011.  He registered back-to-back double-doubles for the second time this season in helping the Wildcats complete the regular season with wins over Texas A&M (76-70) and Oklahoma State (77-58).  He averaged 17.0 points on 61.9 percent shooting (13-of-21), including 33.3 percent (2-of-6) from 3-point range, in the two wins with 11.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 32.0 minutes per game.  He has eight double-doubles this season and 13 for his career and has posted one in four of the last six games.

Samuels began the week with a 17-point, 11-rebound effort in just K-State’s third win at Texas A&M in the Big 12 era.  He went 6-of-9 from the field, including 2-of-2 from beyond the arc, against the Aggies to go with three assists and one block in 31 minutes.  He also went 3-of-4 from the free throw line.  The win enabled the Wildcats to post a winning road record in conference play for just the second time in the last 24 seasons and the first since 2009-10.

On an emotional Senior Day, Samuels tallied 17 points on 7-of-12 field goals to go with a game-high 12 rebounds in helping K-State sweep the season series from Oklahoma State for the first time since 1988.  He also went 3-of-3 from the free throw line to go with one steal in 33 minutes.  He also did not record a personal foul for the first time in his career.  In addition, the victory gave Samuels and fellow senior Victor Ojeleye 95 for their careers, tying Luis Colon,Chris Merriewether and Jacob Pullen for the most in school history.

Samuels is one of just three players in Kansas State history to collect 1,200 points and 700 rebounds in a career, joining Bob Boozer (1956-59) and Ed Nealy (1978-82).  He ranks first on the team in double-doubles (eight), rebounding (6.8 rpg.), free throws (92) and free throws attempted (135), while he is second in scoring (10.3 ppg.) and blocked shots (0.7 bpg.) and third in minutes (26.4 mpg.).
