MANHATTAN, Kan. – After declaring his intentions back in January, Rep. Lee Modesitt officially filed with the Secretary of State’s office to run for the 66th District seat in the Kansas House of Representatives on Tuesday.
This will be Modesitt’s second go around for the seat. In 2010, he challenged Rep. Sydney Carlin but came up short by less than 200 votes.
“The biggest difference between the two (elections) is people have had a chance to look at who I am and what I believe in,” Modesitt said. “I think that will give me a little bit more of an advantage that what I had last time.”
Modesitt is the only candidate who has filed for election.
“We’ve hit the ground running,” Modesitt said. “We’ve got a couple of fundraising events coming up soon. We’re laying the groundwork as best we can going into the summer months and are looking forward to getting the campaign underway.”
