Riley County Police indicate they received a call of a zebra-at large just before one Tuesday morning. The animal had been located at White Tail Pass and reportedly was from the McDowell Creek Road area.

Manhattan Animal control officer Lynn Schumacher tells KMAN she was contacted at 2 a.m.Tuesday by RCPD, who indicated they had no way to transport the animal or a place to house the animal. When she called Riley county police back to let them know she had an animal control crew available, the zebra’s owner had been located.

The name of the owner has not been released, although no problems were reported in connection with the case. The owner also reportedly owns a camel.
