    KDOT announces road projects

A traffic switch will take place Thursday for K-18 traffic entering and exiting the Ogden/Fort Riley area. The traffic switch will start Thursday morning after morning rush hour in Ogden and take place throughout the day until complete.

The westbound K-18 exit currently being used to access Ogden and the Ogden Gate to Fort Riley will be closed, so traffic will need to utilize alternate routes:

Specifically to enter the Ogden Gate to Fort Riley: Westbound K-18 traffic (from Manhattan) will proceed on K-18 approximately 1/2-mile further west before using a new crossover onto the new westbound lane of K-18 in a one-lane configuration. Westbound traffic will take the exit ramp to K-114, turn right at the ramp and follow the new K-114 alignment into Ogden.

To exit the Ogden Gate from Fort Riley: Traffic will utilize the new alignment of K-114 into the new K-18/K-114 interchange.

And Kansas Department of Transportation officials also announce next Tuesday evening, (May 29), K-18 at Walnut Street will be closed so that crews can begin preparation work for the setting of bridge beams for the Walnut Street Bridge over K-18. K-18 at Walnut Street will be closed beginning at 9:00 p.m. that Tuesday,  and will reopen to all traffic at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30th.

Updated traffic information for this K-18 project is available at: http://www.ksdot.org/topekaMetro/projectstudyNEKS.asp
