Master Garden Tour Features Private and Public Gardens

By KMAN Staff on May 30, 2012 Local News

The 24th Annual Master Garden Tour will be on June 10th, rain or shine, in Manhattan. The tour will feature five private gardens that people can view. People can speak with the owner of the garden and Master Gardeners at each of the private garden stops. There will be two public gardens that are open to view. They are the two Kansas State Gardens. Greg Eyestone, Riley County Extension Horticulture Agent, said that for people who aren’t familiar with the Manhattan area that the K-State gardens are a great starting point for the tour.

Eyestone also said that there will be no shuttle provided for the tour and that people can view the different gardens at their own pace.

The tour this year will also feature the Riley County Shop Complex for viewing. The Shop, which is located on Tuttle Creek Blvd., features perennials from the Kansas State “Prairie Bloom” selection process.

Tickets for the event can be purchased on the day of the event for 8$. If you are interested in advanced tickets, those can be purchased through the Riley County Extension office or select garden centers throughout Manhattan for 7$. The tickets will feature a map of the different gardens on the tour.
