    Kynard gets his shot at London on Monday night

    One last series of jumps separates K-State junior Erik Kynard from a trip to the Olympic games in London.  The three-time NCAA champ in the high jump will compete in the finals on Monday night at the US Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon.  Kynard breezed through the prelims on Saturday night as one of only four competitors to clear all three heights without a miss.  He jumped 6′ 10 3/4″, 7′ 1/2″, and 7′ 1 3/4 in his first try.  The top three finishers will qualify for the London Olympics next month in Monday night’s high jump finals at 7:50pm central time.  NBC Sports Network will show coverage of the Track and Field Trials from 8:00 to 10:00pm.

    A future Wildcat will also be a part of the high jump finals as well.  Renn Lake Community College (Ill.) transfer Zack Riley tied for 11th in the prelims.  Riley cleared the first two heights, but advanced despite missing all three attempts at 7′ 1 3/4″.  He’s jumped 7′ 5″ in his career and is an NJCAA champion.
