Several topics came up during today’s Riley County Commission Meeting.

    • As KMAN has been reporting, work a new bridge project will begin next week. Assistant County Engineer Gary Rosewicz spoke on Monday about the project that starts next Monday, June 18th stating the project located on McDowell Creek Road will cause traffic to be restricted to one lane, controlled by a traffic signal at each end. The project may cause delays up to 10 minutes. Rosewicz says the project should be completed by mid-August.
    • With the planning phase out of the way, the groundbreaking of the new ATA Bus Transit Facility is set for Friday. ATA Bus Director Anne Smith told commissioners that it will be at ten o’clock that morning with a couple speakers including one from the county commission. The location for the groundbreaking is set for the Southeast Corner of Tuttle Creek Boulevard and Marlatt Avenue on Riley County Public Works grounds.
    • Riley County appraisers will be easy to identify in the upcoming months as they begin their Annual Review session process. Appraisers will be using county vehicles, wearing ID badges, and wearing county polo shirts as a way to clearly identify themselves. Riley County Appraiser Greg McHenry says that if home owners are not present when the appraiser visits their home they can simply fill out a door handle hanger which inclues postage paid so it can be returned to the Appraiser’s office. An extra emphasis has been put on the department’s identification practice due to individuals posing as appraisers in Pottawatomie County.
