Two huge recognitions praise Manhattan for extensive economic growth. The Little Apple has received the number 5 spot in Forbes Magazine for the “Best Small Place for Business and Careers” award and received the number 17 spot in Area Development Magazine for economic and job growth.
Manhattan has been recognized in Forbes Magazine for the past three years. In 2010, it received the number 3 spot and in 2011, it achieved the number 1 spot. There were 184 communities up for this award this year.
Manhattan Chamber of Commerce President, Lyle Butler, says ” I think that shows a real recognition of the work and effort of all the partners in our community to make Manhattan a great place to start a business and to develop a career.”
Even though Manhattan received a better place in Forbes, the achievement in Area Development is perhaps even more impressive. The 184 communities considered for the title in Forbes were small communities and towns. Area Development considered 365 cities for their title, including big metropolitan areas like Dallas and Boston.
